There are many cases of people wanting to lose weight through invasive methods. But it is not always the correct procedure to follow. Nothing can replace the natural way of slimming down by controlling one’s diet and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. But plastic surgery can help in sculpting the body of people who lie within the healthy weight range. The appropriate liposuction procedure can be used to achieve this target. Liposuction is used to mold areas of the body to give it a more pleasant shape. Liposuction cost will vary from clinic to clinic.

Who is the ideal candidate for liposuction?

Liposuction surgery can be used to improve the contouring of the face and the body. It can also be used for eliminating the extra fat from many areas. You can use the technique for reshaping the following areas-

    • Thighs
    • Buttocks
    • Arms
    • Calves
    • Ankles
    • Abdomen
    • Torso
    • Chin/neck
    • Back

Before opting for the procedure, the patients are required to check if they fulfil the given criteria such as:-

    1. The patient must be able to maintain a healthy weight.
    2. The patients should have realistic expectations. The patient should not expect drastic changes in the body with near perfect results. It is unrealistic to expect a medical procedure to do a miracle.
    3. The person must be healthy enough to undergo a surgical procedure. Liposuction can’t be performed on people unfit for surgery.
    4. The person’s skin must be elastic enough to shrink back in response to liposuction otherwise the patient will end up looking awkward.

Liposuction is often a good choice if the patient is already undergoing other plastic surgery procedures. Combining liposuction with other plastic surgery procedures yields great benefits as it enhances the overall effect of the whole process. People can also opt for more procedures like thigh lift, buttock lift, tummy tuck, arm lift, breast reduction, and breast lift.

    Liposuction Procedure

The surgery is usually undertaken as an outpatient procedure. General anaesthesia is used to make the patient unconscious. Many small incisions are made which give the surgeon access to the fat deposits. Cannula, a thin tubular structure is used to vacuum out the excess fat. When the patient is discharged, he or she is sent home wearing a compression garment. The garment is helpful in reducing swelling and providing support to the areas which have been operated. The patients are advised to wear the garment for one month after the surgery.
